Deflections in magnet fringe fields.
A transverse multipole expansion is derived, including the longitudinal components necessarily present in regions of varying magnetic field profile. It can be used for exact numerical orbit following through the fringe-field regions of magnets whose end designs introduce no extraneous components, i.e., fields not required to be present by Maxwell's equations. Analytic evaluations of the deflect...
متن کاملMagnet Fringe Fields, Nonlinear Effects, and Compensation in Large Acceptance Rings
The importance of nonlinear effects has been well known in the field of modern high resolution spectrography and in other areas requiring the precise manipulation of large phase space volumes. Simulations for such devices require treating the field as precisely as possible; furthermore the required large aperture of the appearing magnets usually makes the consideration of fringe fields crucial....
متن کاملSymplectic scaling of transfer maps including fringe fields.
A method is introduced that provides an accurate and fast approximation of high-order maps of fringe fields and other fields that change along the reference trajectory. While the effects of main fields of optical elements can be determined very efficiently with differential algebraic ~DA! methods via exponentiation of the respective propagator, the computation of high-order maps of nonstationar...
متن کاملFast-response liquid-crystal displays using crossed fringe fields
Yan Li (SID Student Member) Zhibing Ge (SID Member) Ruibo Lu (SID Member) Meizi Jiao (SID Student Member) Shin-Tson Wu (SID Fellow) Abstract — A fast-response and wide-view liquid-crystal display (LCD) using the crossed fringe-fieldswitching (CFFS) mode is proposed, where the fringe-field electrodes exist on both the top and bottom substrates. The bottom fringe field is used to turn on the LC d...
متن کاملAnalytic Estimation of the Non-linear Tune Shift Due to the Quadrupole Magnet Fringe Field
Analytic expressions for the amplitude-dependent tune shift driven by the quadrupole magnet fringe field have been obtained. The magnitude of the effect is compared with other sources of non-linearity such as chromatic sextupoles, octupole errors of the main quadrupole magnetic field and kinematic terms. A numerical example was the calculation on the lattice of the VEPP-4M e+e− collider.
